The memory of which platoon I was in escapes me, I just
remember starting off in those horrible tents and then helped to
build the aluminum houses we lived in.
40 years ago this month I was looking forward to going back home
to Baltimore. Little did any of us expect that Tet would be with us
in a few weeks.
The greatest fear was not that I would get killed but the rumor that
came of "extension for the duration" like they had done to my
father in WWII. I remember how I was offered a promotion if I
would extend a few months, but that was not for me. I can't
remember a year that was so long.
