Comments:
I spoke with Guy 7/9/2006 and he was with the 104th
from the time it was formed in the United States and
after they arrived in Vietnam, He will be sending info
in the near future and we will update his site. In the
mean time he would like to make contact with
members of the 104th from 1967.
On a personel note, Thank you Guy Levingston, it
was a pleasure to speak with you and I look forward
to meeting you in the future.
He came back for a 2nd tour in 1972-73 and was
stationed in Cam Ran Bay.
September 2006 Copied from a letter sent in by Guy Levingston.
stationed there in the 10th Infrantry Division. We were shipped
to Aschefenburg, Germany for the rest of the enlistment.

I got out but 57 days later I re-enlisted and was sent back to Ft.
Riley and the 531st. Transportation Company, Medical Truck
and returned to Germany Ferruary 1959.

In 1962 I was married in England to my wife Pat, we came
home in February 1963 and was stationed in Ft. Leonard
Wood, Missouri in the Transportation Motor Pool. Our
daughter was born there in 1963.

In October 1964 I was sent to the Congo, Africa for 6 months
but after being injured I came home for Christmas and back to
Ft. Leonard Wood.

In the fall of 1966 the 104Th Engineers was activated and I
joined in October at Ft. Meade, Maryland. I was assigned the
1st Platoon and Sargent Joseph Lewis the 2nd Platoon, after
some training and checking equipment we shipped them out of
Baltimore Harbor, I spent Christmas in Maryland and shipped
out on December 27th by 4 engine prop to Lincoln, Nebraska
to refuel, then on to Oakland California to board the troop
ship and after 17 days landed in Vietnam.

We docked at Vung Tau and since there was no deep water port
we went over the side into landing craft. From there we were
taken to Bien Hoa Air Base by L-19's to the 100th Float Bridge
Company at Long Binh.

We put up squad tents and pulled guard duty until the trucks
arrived in Saigon. After servicing all the trucks we received
orders for one squad, Sargent Bill Gibson and Sargent Phillips
to support the 1st Infrantry Divison in Operation Junction City
near Tay Ninh in the Iron Triangle.

There we supported the 25th Division and the 1st Division in
Xion, Phu Loi, Lai Khe, Loc Ninh. Ben Cat, Phuoc Vinh, Tay
Ninh, Xaun Loc and An Loc.

I lost 2 trucks from the 1st Platoon, Operation Junction City.
Drivers Brown and Bogan, but the sand bags saved their lives.

Our 1st Sargent was Wayne Cantwell who went on to become
CSM before he retired to Coloorado Springs where he died in
1998.

We all came home in time for Christmas in 1967 grateful that
no lives were lost.

I served 1 year at Ft. Baker, California in the 6th Region Air
Defence Company before heading to Kaiserslautern, Germany
in 1969 where our son was born in 1970.

I was sent back to Vietnam in 1971 and was in Cam Rahn Bay
with the 24th Transportation Company Port and Beach
Operations, 2-24 hour crews, I was the Truck Master. In early
1972 I was transferred to the 360th Pol Tanker Company which
pulled 5000 gallon tankers from Cam Rahn Bay t Ban Me
Thuot, we started standing down in March 1972.

I returned to Ft. Riley April 1972 for 1 year with 1/4 Calvery,
1st Infrantry Division, then back to Erlangen, Germany in
February 1973 with HQ Company, 37th Armor. Departed
Germany February 1975 and retired April 1st 1975.
