Today you might find yourself
building or rebuilding an airfield,
while  another unit of the 20th
Engineer Brigade may be installing a
moveable runway make of snap
together panels.
Tomorrow it could be the 100th
Bridge Cpmpany installing  a portable
bridge, which comes  mounted on a
tank, to a wood bean built bridge
with an alful lot of raw back power.

The engineers job was never too
easy and there was always the
chance that the enemy didn't like
what you were doing.

The 104th Engineer s were a support
group and were farmed out to
different area's depending on the
needs of other companies.
Pictured was a total of 143 5-Ton trucks hauling blacktop, it needed to be 350
degrees when delivered to the building site, not to mrntion the 100-plus
temperture that day.
Not visable in the pictures is the asphalt spreading machine, imagine  working on
this machine, spreading asphalt that is at least 350 degree's, the outside air that
day is 110 + .
This airfield took a total of 724 loads of blacktop
