CAMP FRENZEL
JONES
One of the Guard Towers, just about everyone would
pull guard duty, except the truck drivers who were
often passed over as they were needed each day for
hauling, we normally put in a 12 to 16  hour day.
While quite a few of the men served more than one
he was going home soon.
Standing outside the jeep is Garry Farren giving the
universal short timer sign, the closer together the
fingers the sooner good-by time approached.
Sitting inside the jeep looks like Pete O'malley, it's
hard to tell, any info you can give helps to identify
members.
building in the rear far left was the 100th Bridge
Company.
On Camp Frenzell Jones, The men had a small "BAR" called The Rock Droppers Inn,
it was a place to let your hair hang down.
sure if the troops in the background are 104th or
Group HQ company

The truck is our 2.5 ton Mess truck with Captain
Brockway on the left, the mess Sargent (I think) and 1st
Sgt Gobble on the right. Notice the sign on the truck,
"WE DROP OUR COOKIES ANYWHERE".
Company Tow Truck, There is a funny story about
this "TOW TRUCK" and how we came in procession of
it.
Earl Mullins & Ken Yates was one of the operators.
Ken came home and went into the ministry and is
now refered to as Bishop Ken Yates
joined the Air Force, they have 2-men rooms with all
the comforts of home.
But John, the optimist that he is said, now wait, I have
a warm bed, refrigerator and a fan, now if I could
only remember where I put my comb.
John & LuAnn Groh lives in Rockford Illinois, he and
LuAnn were the Hosts of the 20th Engineer Brigade
Reunion the summer 2008

This is the Photo Lab on Camp Frenzell Jones just
across from the 199th Field Artillery, I spent any
free time I had here.

Company sign for the 104th Engineers, this base
located about 15 miles from Saigon and about 3
miles across from Bien Hoa Airbase. As you can
see from the sign, the Company Commander was
Captain Bruce E. Brockway, he is now retired and
lives in Maine.
1St Sergent James H. Gobble has since passed
away.

Also stationed on the same base was the 199th
Light Infantry. Everyone will tell you the base had
all the comforts of home:
except,
running water, hot showers, flush toilets,
comfortable beds, good food, fancy restaurants
and so on.
